At Nicholson Baptist Church, we believe that serving others is an expression of our love for God and a vital part of living out our faith. Jesus Himself set the example when He said, “For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many” (Mark 10:45). As followers of Christ, we are called to use our gifts, time, and talents to glorify God by serving within the church, throughout our community, and across the world.

Serving Within the Church

God has uniquely gifted every believer to build up the body of Christ. Scripture reminds us, “Just as each one has received a gift, use it to serve one another as good stewards of the varied grace of God” (1 Peter 4:10). Whether greeting guests, teaching children, singing in the choir, or maintaining the facilities, every act of service strengthens the church and helps others experience the love of Christ. “From whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped… makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love” (Ephesians 4:16).

Serving in the Community

Our service doesn’t stop at the church doors. We are called to be salt and light in our neighborhoods—showing compassion, kindness, and truth. James 2:17 reminds us that “faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.” As the hands and feet of Jesus, we look for opportunities to meet needs, comfort the hurting, and share the hope of the Gospel with those around us. “Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven” (Matthew 5:16).

Serving the World

Christ’s command in Matthew 28:19–20 is clear: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations…” Nicholson Baptist Church is committed to sharing the Gospel beyond our local community. Through prayer, giving, and mission involvement, we partner with believers worldwide to reach those who have yet to hear the Good News. We serve because we’ve been served by a Savior who gave everything for us.
